Kandi Girlz Q & A

The Kandi Girlz are a St. Louis trio consisting of Diamond Thompson, 15, Sade Thompson, 14, and Brittany Thompson, 18. Diamond is a sophomore at Parkwary North High School, where Sade is a freshman, Brittany graduated in 2010 and is now a freshman at Forrest Park College. At 10, Diamond joined a group named BeBe’s Kids, but left the group due to personal reasons. Nonetheless, the talent, and outgoing, energetic personalities these girls acquire led their mother to take their career seriously and Kandi Girlz officially became a group in 2008.  They released their first song in 2009 and it received a lot of attention via YouTube. Their song was in such heavy demand that it caught the attention of DJ Sno who validated the talent these young ladies have by producing their second single Make Em Clap that was released earlier this year. Since then,  the Kandi Girlz single Make Em Clap has been receiving heavy radio play and they have been performing shows all over St. Louis.

What do y'all like better performing or recording?

We like performing  better because we love the feedback from the audience. 

All 3of Y'all are still in school, how do you manage school and your career?

We manage it very well! When you want something really bad, nothing should get in your way. To be honest its not hard at all, we stay focused.

What's the music scene in St. Louis like?

It's nice! Everyone raps and would like to be signed to a label. It's a lot of good talent here in St. Louis people are really sleeping on St. Louis.

What was it like hearing your music on the radio for the first time?

It was very exciting, and unbelievable.

In the groups bio it says that y'all begin taking music seriously in 2008, what made y'all get more focused?

We noticed, and others did too that we had talent. 

Who are some of the Kandi Girlz musical influences?

 Beyonce, Nicki Minaj. 

What do y'all have on deck for the rest of the year?

Too keep moving forward in this music, and finish school 

Do y'all have any ambitions in the world of Fashion, be it designing or modeling?

Both, we love picking out our own outfits when we perform, and also we did a couple fashion shows
