DEE-1 WINS MENTORING SESSION WITH RUSSELL SIMMONS
New Orleans, LA - Back in late January, Russell Simmons joined a long line of celebrities to 'hijack' MySpace recently; both as guest editors and with programmed content that inspires each of their own creativity. To celebrate the power and popularity of the genre-bending musical trend known as 'hip-pop", Russell Simmons launched his 'Rush Hip Pop Challenge' wherein he sourced ten up-and-coming artists' pages on MySpace - 5 hip hop and 5 pop - and MySpace users were asked to vote on their favorites in each category. The winning artist in each genre would win a one-on-one mentoring session either via phone or webchat, with Russell himself. After several weeks, and millions of votes, New Orleans' Dee-1 emerged victorious as the top hip-hopper in the 'Hip Pop Challenge.'
